Jay Kenneth Johnson was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri. He attended Kickapoo High School and Missouri State University. During Jay's sophomore year at Missouri State, he made the move to Los Angeles and quickly landed a role on Days of Our Lives, playing Philip Kiriakis till 2002. After a successful run on Days, he went on to work with Aaron Spelling, on the remake of "Hotel". The following year, Jay found himself on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, playing Chris Remsen on the Fox series "North Shore". He also recurs on the NBC show Scrubs, as Dr. Matthews, and rejoined DOOL as Philip (meanwhile played by Kyle Brandt) in 2007. At the moment, Jay continues to live, work and study in Los Angeles.

Attended Missouri State University.

Has a younger brother named Jeff and a younger sister named Jenna.

So loved by his Days of Our Lives fans that, when he left, they hired a plane to fly over the NBC studios carrying a banner wishing him "Good Luck".

Lead vocalist and co-song writer for Solid Jones, a high powered funk/rock fusion band. Other members include Bryan Powers, 'Dirty' Dave Harp, Rick Steff, Dave Green and Kevin Houston. As a singer he has a distinctive strong, husky voice and a very impressive range.

Is a fan of vocalists Lenny Kravitz, Anthony Kiedis, Jim Morrison and Robert Plant.

Six months after arriving in Hollywood, he auditioned for the role of Brady Black on 'Day Of Our Lives' but was instead cast as Phillip Kiriakis.
