Mini Biography
Angus McLaren was born in the South Gippsland town of Wonthaggi. He made his professional debut when he was 12 years old with a recurring role on the ABC series, Something in the Air. Further TV credits followed, including the children's series Worst Best Friends, The Saddle Club and Fergus McPhail, along with guest roles on the popular series Blue Heelers, Comedy Inc and a role on the long-running Australian TV series Neighbours.

Angus had his first main cast role in the children's series Silversun, which aired on both the Seven Network and the ABC from 2004. His feature film debut, in Court of Lonely Royals, followed in 2005.

In 2006, McLaren joined the cast of the internationally popular children's series H2O: Just Add Water, appearing from series one through to mid season of series three in the starring role of Lewis McCartney.

In 2008, Angus took the main cast role of Nathan Rafter in the Channel 7 comedy/drama series Packed to the Rafters. He appeared in 114 episodes over the show's six seasons.

Angus studied a Bachelor of Acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, Western Australia. While at WAAPA, Angus appeared in eight WAAPA stage productions. He was The Marquis De Sade in WAAPA's production of Marat/Sade[2], The Man in Tender Napalm and, in his graduating year, received great reviews playing the title role in Shakespeare's Coriolanus

In 2016, he played the character of William "The Crimson Fiddler" Graham in Quartermaine. He won Nine Network's Channel 9 Best Actor Award at the WA Screen Academy Awards for his portrayal of Will in this short film.

  • With no prior experience, began his acting career by getting a re-occurring role, due to an impressive audition for the Australian television series Something in the Air (2000)
  • Drummer in Sydney based indie band, Rapids.
  • He grew up on a farm near Loch in Victoria, Australia. His family, who migrated to Australia from Scotland in the late 1800's, still lives on the farm, which is also the home of The Hills Are Alive and NYE music festivals.
  • He played bass guitar in the punk group Bogey Lowensteins.

  • Through 2013 and into 2014 Angus took a variety of master classes in New York, LA, Sydney and Melbourne with some of the world's finest teachers. From these positive experiences, Angus made the unique decision to refresh his passion and drive for acting by seeking out formal training at an elite performing arts institution. He chose to study a Bachelor of Arts (Acting) at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), one of Australia's premier performing arts institutions.
  • When filming of Packed To The Rafters wrapped up in 2012, Angus took time away from acting to travel abroad, spending time in France, Scotland and the US, and also backpacking with his Brother Aidan through South America.
