Amelia Catherine Bennett
5' 6" (1.68 m)
Amelia Warner was born Amelia Catherine Bennett in Liverpool, England, the only child of English actress Annette Ekblom and Welsh actor Alun Lewis. Her uncle is Welsh actor Hywel Bennett. Relocating to London when she was 4 years old, she studied at the Royal Masonic School for Girls, and then (at 16) the College of Fine Arts. However, her schools did not approve of her taking so much time off for her acting work and so was forced to study for a while at a college in Belsize Park. She was "discovered" after she and her friends devised and acted out a play in Covent Garden where she was spotted by an agent and won a place at London Royal Court Theatre's Youth program. Warner had a string of television roles in TV dramas such as Casualty (1986) before making it big with Lorna Doone (2000) and the film Quills (2000), which both came out in the winter of 2000.
Daughter of actress Annette Ekblom, who tried to put her off show business, and actor Alun Lewis.
Despite her film and TV commitments, she managed to get three decent A-levels.
Her parents split when she was very small. She stayed with her mother.
Moved with her mother to Ladbroke Grove when she was six.
Born in Liverpool.
Niece of Hywel Bennett.
Her father is Welsh. Her maternal grandfather had Swedish and Irish ancestry (her mother's maiden name, "Ekblom", is Swedish).
Was in a relationship with Colin Farrell in 2001 and reports surfaced that they married. However, the couple had a ceremony on a beach in Tahiti during a holiday that wasn't legal. According to Warner, they booked the event along with shark feeding as another activity.
Has one tattoo, a small star on the lower part of her left hand.
Has two children; daughter Dulcie, was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in late November of 2013 and a second daughter Elva, was born in mid-February of 2016 in London, England.
I've got this idea that who you play in the nativity relates to who you are in life. When I was four, I was Mary. But I wasn't a lovely ethereal Mary, I was a right bossy cow. I stopped the play in the middle to tell Joseph he was doing it all wrong. So that's me... And I've got this best friend who was so bitter about never being Mary. And everyone else, everyone you meet, always says: "Oh, I was the Angel Gabriel. The Messenger. Never Mary or Joseph..." Have you noticed?? So yeah, who you are in the nativity, it determines, you know, your...
I want to stay below the radar and make good films. I have to be careful, I don't want my life to change. I really don't want to be a movie star.
I cringe when people are like... (adopts the deep, proclaiming, self-conscious tones of the precious thespian.)... I am going to be an actress! Which is really probably quite mean of me. But it would have made me uncomfortable to actually think or say I wanted to do it... So I didn't. I fell into it, really. And then, once I was in it, I thought I'd try, at least give it a go, and see how it went.
I don't even really want to talk about how I hate LA. It's so English to hate LA. I'd like to say I love it, but I don't. It's such a weird place. If it were my choice, I wouldn't spend a day there. Everything shuts at 11. And everyone thinks they're so crazy and wild and liberal and they're not!
I'm ambitious, but not competitive. You'd drive yourself crazy if you were. You know, there are actually enough jobs out there for all of us.
